The MESPA-sponsored Science & Technology Fair is a wonderful opportunity for Muraco students to explore science, technology, engineering, and math, and to share their projects in a supportive, non-competitive environment.
Come and join us for the
2026 Muraco Science & Technology Fair on:
Thursday March 26, 2026 (5:30-7:00 pm)
at Winchester High School – Cafeteria!
The deadline to register for the 2026 Science & Technology Fair is March 19.
Do an experiment, figure out how to measure something, write a computer program, make some technology, be curious and creative! Then make a poster or prepare a demonstration, and come ready to talk about your project and those of other participants.
We encourage students to build on what they are learning in class, and so the Fair will be organized around four broad themes: (1) Earth & Space Science; (2) Life Science; (3) Physical Science; and (4) Engineering & Technology. Here are a few project ideas for different grade levels:
Earth & Space Science
K: Make observations of local weather and describe patterns.
2nd: Make a graphic to illustrate where water is found on earth in liquid and solid forms.
3rd: Find climate data from different places and illustrate variations between regions.
5th: Make a model to explain the cycling of water on Earth.
Life Science
K: Design an experiment to learn about how plants grow over time.
1st: Make observations about seasonal patterns of change.
3rd: Make a graphic that illustrates the unique life cycles of different organisms.
5th: Demonstrate how energy moves through ecosystems.
Physical Science
K: Demonstrate that different types of materials can be a solid or liquid depending on temperature.
1st: Demonstrate how vibration and sound are related to one another.
3rd: Design an experiment to show the effects of friction on the temperature and speed of objects that rub against each other.
4th: Investigate forces between magnets.
Engineering &Technology
1st: Build a device that uses light or sound to send a signal.
2nd: Compare the design of two solutions to a single problem.
4th: Design a solution to reduce the impact of natural disasters.
5th: Compare the effectiveness of different designs of compost systems.
