Muraco Elementary School Parents Association has many committees run by parent volunteers. Read on to see which one interests you!
Committees & Volunteer Opportunities

Fundraising Committee
Organizes fundraising to support MESPA’s activities and initiatives including student enrichment, staff appreciation, and community building. Fundraising initiatives include our Annual Appeal and Book Fair in the fall, Muraco spirit wear sales, and a Fun Run in the spring.

Enrichment Committee
Supports extension of the in-class curriculum. Includes Enrichment Coordinators who collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and schedule in-class enrichment and field trips. Enrichment events include our annual Science Fair, Muraco after-school programming (MASP), and a mentoring program for fourth and fifth graders.

School Support Committee
Coordinate volunteers and/or supplies for a number of events during the year, including SchoolKidz school supply kit sales, Authorfest, Muraco’s participation in local parades and support for Muraco’s field day.

Community-Building Committee
Organizes events throughout the year to bring our school community together. Events include welcome back activities and our Fall Festival in the fall, an ice skating party in the winter, and our annual Muraco Multicultural Fair.

Staff Appreciation Committee
Shows our teachers and staff how much our parent and student community appreciates them throughout the year. Includes Room Parents who partner with teachers to coordinate class parties, extra supplies, in-class support (as needed) and communication to parents. Committee also organizes monthly staff appreciation breakfasts and Teacher Appreciation Week activities.

Fifth Grade Committee
Composed of 5th grade parents, this committee organizes all of the fifth grade activities, including fundraising for class activities, preparing a memory book, class trip, moving on ceremony, etc.

Green Team
Help Muraco continue to support lunchroom composting programs this year, and support other initiatives, such as sneaker recycling, outdoor cleanup days, etc.

Health & Safety Committee
Collaborate with school and district leaders, as well as town safety reps, on topics of importance to our community. Coordinate volunteers for the Muraco carline. Coordinate regular community activities such as Walk/Roll/Bike/Carpool to school days.

Communications Committee
Disseminates relevant communications (electronically and via flyers) to the Muraco community, collaborates with co-chairs to publish the Muraco Matters newsletter. Committee also manages the MESPA website, online school directory, and MESPA’s social media presence.

Community Liaison
Coordinate Muraco’s representation at various town committee meetings and report to the board on topics such as the Muraco rebuild and relevant topics discussed by the school committee.
