About MESPA

The Muraco Elementary School Parents Association (MESPA) serves as a valuable communication and support system to Muraco staff, students and families. Primarily through our Annual Appeal, other sources of funding and a tremendous volunteer effort, our children benefit from many academic and social activities provided by MESPA. Some of these programs include: enrichment programs, the Library Book Fair, the school newsletter, field trip transportation, school photos, and social activities such as the Muraco Family Picnic, the Multicultural Fair, and the Winter Skating Party. We also support our talented and dedicated staff through Curriculum Enhancement, Monthly Staff Breakfasts, the Room Parent Program and a Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

MESPA meets monthly, sometimes in person and sometimes vitually. To accommodate both working and stay-at-home parents, the meetings alternate between morning and evening. By attending these meetings, you will gain a better understanding of what goes on in the school. In this way, you can become more involved in decisions which affect your child. MESPA officers welcome communication from parents regarding concerns or ideas.

There are also many ways to get involved by volunteering. These opportunities are communicated through the weekly newsletter, Muraco Matters, and the MESPA meetings.

MESPA is a Massachusetts 501(c)(3) non-profit association, registered with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office of Non-Profits and Charities and the Internal Revenue Service, whose mission is to “to promote the understanding of school objectives and methods, and to encourage full cooperation between parents/guardians and faculty/staff in order to foster the full development of Muraco students.”  In addition, its purpose is “to fund and coordinate activities and to provide volunteer support in order to enhance the academic experience and build a sense of school and community pride.”

All parents and guardians of Muraco students are automatically members of MESPA.
